What is cork render?
Cork render is a common name for a spray-applied exterior coating made from natural cork and advanced resins. Unlike traditional sand-and-cement or monocouche rendering, ReveCork is applied as a flexible finishing system over a suitable prepared surface. It creates a decorative, breathable and weather-resistant exterior.
Can spray cork be applied over existing render?
Yes, provided the existing render is sound and firmly bonded to the wall. Loose, hollow or structurally failed areas must be removed and repaired first. ReveCork can then be applied across the prepared elevation, creating a consistent new finish rather than leaving visible patches.
Is cork render suitable for older Leeds homes?
It can be particularly well suited to older solid-wall properties because the finished coating remains breathable. Victorian terraces, stone villas and inter-war homes still need to be assessed individually, as leaking gutters, failed pointing, structural movement and badly damaged render must be corrected before any coating is applied.
How does cork render perform in Leeds weather?
ReveCork is flexible, breathable and weather resistant, making it suitable for walls exposed to regular rain and changing temperatures. It can also resist staining and has zero colour fade. The coating will not solve unresolved building defects, so leaking gutters, damaged flashing and active structural cracks must be repaired first.
Does spray cork improve insulation?
Natural cork has thermal and sound-insulating properties. The external ReveCork system helps reduce heat loss through the wall surface, although the result depends on the construction, condition and exposure of the property. It should be viewed as an improvement to the wall rather than a replacement for a complete insulation system.
Does cork render need repainting?
ReveCork has zero colour fade, so routine repainting is not required simply to restore faded colour. Like any exterior finish, the walls may still need occasional cleaning and inspection around gutters, openings and joints. Small areas of damage can also be repaired locally without recoating the entire property.
How much does cork render cost in Leeds?
The cost depends on the size of the property, access, the condition of the existing walls and the amount of preparation required. A straightforward, sound elevation will require less work than walls with hollow render, flaking paint or complex detailing. We survey the property before providing a tailored quotation.
