What is Cork Plaster?

Our Cork Plaster system is a natural, breathable internal coating designed to improve warmth, comfort and moisture control within your home. By combining finely processed cork with modern breathable binders, it forms a high-performance layer that supports healthier living conditions without altering the look of your walls. The product is fully trowelable, allowing it to be applied cleanly and accurately to create a stable, even base for the final skim.

Unlike many cork-based products that remain visible as a textured finish, this system is created specifically for internal use where a clean, smooth and traditional appearance is required. Once applied, the cork layer can be skimmed with a standard plaster finish, allowing you to paint, decorate and style your walls exactly as you would with any modern interior surface.

A Discreet but High-Performance Upgrade

With Cork Plaster you benefit from all the natural qualities of cork, including increased thermal comfort, reduced cold spots, improved vapour movement and greater resistance to moisture issues. With a low thermal conductivity of 0.036 W/mK, the material helps internal surfaces feel warmer and reduces the likelihood of condensation forming on cold spots.

The system is naturally vapour-open, helping moisture move safely through the wall. This reduces the risk of mould and assists with regulating humidity in older solid wall homes. It also offers excellent resistance to salts, algae and fungi while remaining safe for internal use thanks to its low odour and low VOC formulation.

The result is a discreet but highly effective improvement to your living environment. Walls perform better without looking any different and rooms feel warmer, drier and more comfortable throughout the year. This makes Cork Plaster ideal for older solid wall homes, heritage interiors, basements, conversions or any property where you want better performance without compromising on appearance.

Why Choose Our Cork Plaster

Cork Plaster is engineered specifically for internal use where both performance and appearance matter. It forms a thin, flexible and breathable base layer that can be finished with a standard skim, ensuring your final interior surface looks exactly how you want it to.
Invisible performance
Once skimmed, the surface looks like a normal painted wall. Smooth, clean and ready for any interior design style.
Superior thermal comfort
Cork helps reduce heat transfer and softens cold internal surfaces, improving the overall warmth of the room.
Breathable and moisture regulating
The system remains vapour-open, helping to prevent condensation, damp patches and mould growth.
Thin build, maximum benefit
Applied at 4 to 8 mm before the skim, it improves comfort without reducing room size or altering features.
Flexible and crack-resistant
The natural elasticity of cork helps reduce cracking under the final decorative layer.
Strong adhesion to internal substrates
Tested adhesion strength of over 1 N/mm² ensures a durable and stable base across plaster, masonry, stone and concrete.
Environmentally responsible
Cork is renewable and naturally stores carbon. Every square metre helps fix over 9 kg of CO₂.
Safe, clean and low odour application
The product is not airborne during installation and produces no strong smell, making it comfortable for homes that remain occupied during works.

How Cork Plaster is Installed

1
Internal wall survey
We will carry out a detailed inspection of the internal surfaces, checking for moisture, damage or compatibility issues to ensure the system is suitable for your property.
2
Preparation and priming
Surfaces are cleaned, repaired and primed to create a stable, even base. This ensures strong adhesion and allows the cork layer to perform at its best.
3
Application of Cork Plaster
The cork-based coating is applied by hand using trowelling techniques, building up a thin, consistent layer that provides flexibility, breathability and improved thermal comfort.
4
Traditional skim coat for a smooth finish
After the cork layer has cured, a standard skim coat is applied to create a smooth finish ready for decoration. The upgrade stays hidden but provides lasting improvements.
